Eating well is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy with diabetes. Did you know that losing 5% of your current weight can greatly improve your blood sugar if you have Type 2 diabetes? Weight loss should be sensible and slow. The diet industry is booming with products, pills and false promises. Don’t be misled!

Here are the top four tips from our Dietitians.

  1. Stop drinking sweetened drinks like pop, fruit juice, sports drinks, fruit punch, iced tea, cappuccinos and hot chocolate. Drink water most of the time.
  2. Eat breakfast, lunch and supper every day.

  4. Eat less dessert, fast food and junk food. Eat more fruit and vegetables instead.
